Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) means breathing oxygen-rich air inside a chamber pressurised above normal atmospheric pressure. Under pressure, more oxygen dissolves into the blood plasma and is carried to tissues. It is used in two quite different settings in India today: hospitals treating specific medical conditions, and wellness and recovery centres offering milder sessions.
